Sapporo Ainu Culture Promotion Center !

 by Kazu

My guests from the United States love to touch and feel the culture of indigenous people on this world. I wish all the people on this globe also were interested in the culture of other tribe and nations and paid respect to each other.

We visited Sapporo Ainu Culture Promotion Center in Sapporo City.

The address is
〒061-2274
北海道札幌市南区小金湯27
in Japanese
27 Koganeyu, Minami-ku, Sapporo City, Hokkaido

Even on our way to the entrance from the parking lot of the museum, we could enjoy the bronze sculpture of the symbolic eagle owl called "Ezo Shima Fukuro". The size of the owl is huge and they eat salmons and trouts in the forest.
Ainu people worshiped this kind of owl as one of the deities in the forest.
Every time we see the owl in the forest, it is gazing at us and seems to contemplate on something.
The motif is flying owl. I have never seen the actual flying owl  but can easily imagine with the sculpture.
The powerful flattering of the owls may inspire you something. Would you visit the museum this weekend ?
The beautiful autumnal foliage started to loose the color. It might have peaked out last week.
